Chrome Extension Privacy
Send to StudyDeck — Privacy Policy
The Send to StudyDeck Chrome extension does not collect, store, or transmit any user data to any server.
What the extension does
When you highlight text on a webpage or in Google Docs and click "Send to StudyDeck," the extension reads your selected text and passes it directly to the StudyDeck app on your device using a local URL scheme (studydeck://). That is the only thing it does.
Data collection
The extension collects no data. Specifically:
- No personal information is collected or stored
- No browsing history is recorded
- No analytics or tracking scripts are included
- No cookies are set
- No data is sent to any server, API, or third party
Permissions
The extension requests the following permissions, each used only when you explicitly trigger the extension:
- activeTab — reads your text selection on the current tab when you click the extension or use the context menu
- contextMenus — adds a "Send to StudyDeck" option to the right-click menu
- scripting — injects a small script to read selected text from the active tab
- host permission (docs.google.com) — Google Docs uses a custom rendering layer that prevents normal text selection. This permission allows the extension to extract your selection from Google Docs documents.
Data transfer
Selected text is passed to the StudyDeck app via a local URL scheme (studydeck://import-browser). The text travels directly from your browser to the app on your device. No data passes through any external server.
Remote code
The extension does not use any remote code. All functionality is bundled within the extension package.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL. The extension does not collect email addresses, so there is no way to notify users directly.
